This week I have watched tutorials on how to record Time-Lapse and slow-motion videos, and learning how to get the best shots on a go pro, and researched inspiration for lyrics. This will help with my project as the quality of my lyrics will improve over time and I need to know how to record footage. These two things are essential for a future career in the industry, I aim to develop these skills throughout this project . I have also made a start on the lyrics to my first track. To research recording footage on my Go Pro I have watched several YouTube tutorials and have been figuring out the camera, and just experimenting and learning how to use it, as I am more of a music producer, this has been interesting I definitely think this is a new hobby. I'm having a lot of fun learning about ISO FPS and all the different settings and options and when to use them to get the perfect shot of the night sky or the perfect sunset shot. The inner photographer in me is pleased.
This is going to be really useful for my future career choice, and a skill worth building on, I will be building on this throughout this project
I have then set off to record footage for my music video with the new skills I have learned
using my Go Pro Hero 10, I climbed up Pen Y Fan and recorded some footage of my walk, and the clouds in the sky moving past, I also recorded a time-lapse of the sky from the top of Pen Y Fan which I can use for my music video.
I then climbed the opposite side to Pen y Fan and recorded some waterfalls, I used 240FPS slow motion for this on my Go Pro, as I wanted to record nature for my video. Here is a short clip I did of the clouds above Pen Y Fan, I plan to get lots of different footage and compile it all together for my music video.
I will be recording footage and learning more about video recording, and editing as I go along with this project and my music video. I am just starting out with recording footage, but as I go along, I hope to become more knowledgeable on the subject so I will be able to record my own music videos in the future, I think it's a useful skill and will come in handy and I think if you record your own music videos, it's more creative and arty, and you can really get your message across and express the art of your music alongside the music video. it will also save money. there is still room for improvement with recording with the go pro, as I have just started I have lots more to learn, by the end of this project when I have my music video, I suspect you will be able to see improvement from earlier footage recorded, and footage I have recorded at the end.
For inspiration for the lyrics I want to write I have chosen "Etherwood" " falling out of consciousness" "Yas - Empty Crown" " Simone Valentina - Sad Birthday"
I have chosen these as inspiration as they have a similar message to what I want to get across, and they do it in a really fantastic concise way, but also vague enough that anyone can relate the lyrics to themselves or an experience in some way and that's how I want my lyrics to be.
In conclusion, I have researched different methods of writing lyrics, and how to write more concisely. I have learnt how to use different settings on a GoPro to record the sort of footage I want for my music video. I have built on skills and techniques that I already vaguely knew, and have also learnt new techniques, it has given me an insight into recording, and I feel like this is something I will work on and use in my future career. If I make it as a producer I would also like to have the creative freedom to record my own music videos, I think it is more artsy and creative.
Over the weekend, and for next week's blog, I am aiming to have researched how to write lyrics concisely and vaguely enough that they can relate to multiple different experiences and people, and transfer these skills to my lyrics and I hope to have written the lyrics for my first song.
