My first blog of the new year.
In the summer of 2022 I decided I wanted to write a song called "A Soul Rediscovered" which I have mentioned in my project plan. The idea for this song, and the lyrics were about an experience I have had, I wanted to write them about going through a hard time and blocking emotions out, but then rediscovering them, hence the title "A Soul Rediscovered" I initially wrote a few ideas down and made a start on the lyrics but I was very busy over the summer, and then started college again September so never progressed. In the new year with a reflection on personal growth, this song stood out to me again, and I decided to continue progressing with it. So this is what I have been doing this week.
I have used the knowledge that I have already learnt during this project on lyric writing and also researched more into this. this is a personal song to me, so I wanted the lyrics to be perfect.
I wanted to write them in. a way that could relate them to many situations, but also so they meant a lot to me, but not everyone would be able to translate my meaning of them but instead have their own. so I decided to write in the third person, and like a love song. The first lyric is " Now I have you back I feel warmer than ever, like the piece that went missing has come back together" so it could relate to a break-up then reunion of a relationship, or many things. to me I'm speaking about getting my emotions back.
so this was the main aim of writing these lyrics.
to do this is searched lots of different things on google, like how to write meaningful lyrics, and how to write lyrics more concisely, and watched a few tutorials on YouTube.
Here are the lyrics that I have come up with.

I would say I'm happy with how they turned out I think they work really well with my initial project plan, and how I wanted to write the lyrics.
I think the lyrics tell a story, and someone could relate to it from their experience, and someone else could relate to it with a completely different experience, it means a lot to me but it could also mean a lot to everyone else. I think with my initial plan for the EP with how i wanted my lyrics to be, I have done this well. They fit with what I was aiming for, and I am happy with them. I also think they could be better, there is always room for improvement, but the more I write lyrics the more I will learn how to write them better.
Over the last few months, I have recorded lots of different video footage, and I think this is the song I want the music video to be for. I'm gonna need to record a few more things, as I have all sorts of ideas on what I want for the music video to this song. Like a forest full of clouds, with a golden leaf (not sure how I'm going to get the golden leaf, might have to leave this out, but I will try) With all the footage I have and extra snippets that match certain points in the song, this will be enough to start editing the music video. I am really excited about this and to see the end result.
I have worked. on the backing track for A Soul Rediscovered. Over the last week and have written a backing track to send to the vocalist. I did record some evidence of this process, but my iMac that I made it on has broken, and won't load past the Boot screen. Luckily I have a wav file of this backing track on my USB but have lost the entire project file. This has been a bit of an inconvenience to my project as this is one of my favourite songs. What I have decided to do is to send the backing track off to the vocalist as it is, and once I have the vocals, I am going to use the track I have, add some more elements, and add a lot of vocal processing and effects in the track, I think the backing track is really good anyway, but I wanted to add more to it, so I am a bit gutted. But this should be fine, I am trying to fix my computer and recover the project. But as a backup option seen as we only have a few weeks left of the project, the track as it is, with some extra elements, and the vocal processing will be good enough.
I have also found my vocalist, lily who's from Ukraine, I searched for a while on fiver and found her voice fit what I wanted overall for this song. I am just waiting to receive the vocals back.
I want to learn how to get the best sound I can out of these vocals.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I have learnt how to write better lyrics and learnt some production techniques, and always back-up project files and data to another hard drive. Over the next week, I want to have the vocals back so I can start working on them, work on adding more elements to the backing track, mix and master the song, and create a music video for it. I want to find out how to properly use iMovie so my music video is decent, and I may use Magic Visual Studio to add some extra processing. I also want to learn more about mixing, and mixing roads, then master it, and work on my fourth song.
